Primary Care Paramedic




Full Time Permanent, 12 hours, 7:00 - 19:00, Rotating.

Written & Spoken competency in one of the two official languages (English or French) and spoken competency in the other official language is required

Duties of Position:

This work involves clinical care and safe transportation of individuals, including emergency and non-emergency responses as well as inter-facility transfers.

Clinical expectations and responsibilities for Primary Care Paramedics - Patient Transfer Unit are based on the current National Occupational Competency Profile (NOCP) for Primary Care Paramedics, Paramedic Association of New Brunswick registration requirements as well as Ambulance NB policies, procedures and protocols.

Paramedics are also expected to maintain and operate ambulances and related equipment in accordance with patient needs and public safety.

Required Qualifications and Other Job Requirements:

  • Primary Care Paramedic program/course of over six months;
  • Must meet all legislated requirements for Paramedics in New Brunswick;
  • Must be registered, active Paramedic with the Paramedic Association of New Brunswick;
  • Must have a valid New Brunswick Class 4 Driver's License (or equivalent);
  • Submit a valid and clean criminal record check;
  • Have a current CPR Level C certification that has been issued in the last 12 months;
  • Must demonstrate the ability to work efficiently as a member of the team and possess strong interpersonal skills;
  • Must be able to work all shifts as assigned, maintaining a good attendance record;
  • Must have a high regard for confidentiality; and
  • Must have excellent work habits and have a professional appearance.

Please note: Related and allied duties may be assigned from time to time as may become necessary to the operation of Ambulance NB. Also other competencies related to changes in NOCP guidelines as approved by the Provincial Medical Director may also be added to the duties and responsibilities of this classification.

Candidates will need to provide proof of full vaccination against COVID-19, or a valid medical certificate exempting you from the vaccine. Unvaccinated employees will be required to follow all workplace mitigation measures determined by the Employer, based on Public Heath guidance.
