Duties of Position:

This work involves clinical care and safe transportation of individuals, including emergency and non-emergency responses as well as inter-facility transfers.

Clinical expectations and responsibilities for Paramedics are based on the current National Occupational Competency Profile (NOCP), Paramedic Association of New Brunswick registration requirements as well as Ambulance NB policies, procedures and protocols.

Paramedics are also expected to maintain and operate ambulances and related equipment in accordance with patient needs and public safety.

Essential Qualifications and Other Job Requirements:

  • Completion of an Advanced Care Paramedic program/course;
  • Must meet all legislated requirements for Advanced Care Paramedics in New Brunswick;
  • Must be a registered, active Advanced Care Paramedic with the Paramedic Association of New Brunswick;
  • Must have a valid New Brunswick Class 4 Driver's Licence (or equivalent);
  • Must submit a valid and clean criminal record check;
  • Must have a current CPR Level C certification that has been issued in the last 12 months;
  • Must demonstrate the ability to work efficiently as a member of the team and possess strong interpersonal skills;
  • Must be able to work all shifts as assigned, maintaining a good attendance record;
  • Ability to show others how to perform task/duties as part of the departmental orientation;
  • Must have a high regard for confidentiality;
  • Must be willing to participate and contribute to future pilot projects, related research initiatives and focus groups.
  • Must have excellent work habits and exhibit professionalism;
  • Must be willing to participate in community Paramedicine duties;

Take note that in the event that no applicants meet all of the ACP Required Qualifications and Job Requirements, Ambulance NB will consider applicants who meet the PCP Required Qualifications and Job Requirements listed below.

Applicants who are selected on the basis of the PCP Required Qualifications and Job Requirements only, will receive the following interim rate of pay: Pay Grade 11, CUPE 1252 Collective Agreement (PCP)

PCP Required Qualifications and Job Requirements:

  • Primary Care Paramedic program/course of over six months;
  • Must meet all legislated requirements for Paramedics in New Brunswick;
  • Must be registered, active Paramedic with the Paramedic Association of New Brunswick;
  • Must have a valid New Brunswick Class 4 Driver's Licence (or equivalent);
  • Submit a valid and clean criminal record check;
  • Have a current CPR Level C certification that has been issued in the last 12 months;
  • Must demonstrate the ability to work efficiently as a member of the team and possess strong interpersonal skills;
  • Must be able to work all shifts as assigned, maintaining a good attendance record;
  • Must have a high regard for confidentiality; and
  • Must have excellent work habits and have a professional appearance.

Please note for all applicants that related and allied duties may be assigned from time to time as may become necessary to the operation of Ambulance NB. Also other competencies related to changes in NOCP guidelines as approved by the Provincial Medical Director may also be added to the duties and responsibilities of these classifications.
